What do I need to create a book?

Just one clear photo of your child's face and a few minutes of your time. You'll also choose a story theme and tell us a bit about your child.

How long does it take?

Your digital preview is usually ready in 2–5 minutes after you complete the wizard. Print orders ship within 2–3 business days after you approve the preview.

What age groups are your books for?

Our stories are crafted for children ages 2–10. The vocabulary and themes are age-appropriate and engaging for early readers through middle childhood.

Can I preview the book before paying?

Yes — every book starts with a free digital preview. You only pay when you're ready to order a printed copy.

What story themes are available?

We offer eight themes: Space Explorer, Dragon Kingdom, Ocean Quest, Enchanted Forest, Superhero City, Pirate Adventure, Time Traveler, and Your Own World (custom). More themes launch monthly.

What size and format is the book?

Books are 8.5×8.5 inch square, 32 pages. Available in premium hardcover or softcover.

Can I add a personal dedication?

Yes! You can add a custom dedication message that prints on the title page inside the book.

Can I create a book in a language other than English?

Currently our books are written in English. Additional languages are on our roadmap — sign up for updates.

Is my child's photo safe?

Absolutely. Photos are used only to generate your child's illustrations and are permanently deleted within 30 days after the book is created. We never share or sell them. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Do you use my child's photo to train AI?

No. Never. Your child's identifiable photo is not used to train any AI model.

What if I want my data deleted?

Email privacy@taleandstar.com at any time to request deletion of your account and all associated data, including any stored photos.

How much does a book cost?

Digital PDF: $14.99. Softcover print: $44.99. Hardcover print: $54.99. All prices include free standard shipping within the US.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! We ship worldwide. International shipping typically takes 10–21 business days and is priced based on destination.

What if my book arrives damaged?

Contact support@taleandstar.com within 30 days of delivery with a photo of the damage. We'll replace your book free of charge.

Can I return a book?

Because every book is custom-made, we can't accept returns for change of mind. However, if your book is damaged or defective, we'll always make it right.
